Red Sox's poor offense, Alex Cora's questionable decision lead to 4-1 loss vs. Tigers

The Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers met again on Sunday at Comerica Park for their third and final game of the series, with the home team handing Alex Cora's squad a 4-1 loss.

Cora will be questioned heavily following this game after he pulled starting pitcher Cooper Criswell after four perfect innings and just 52 pitches.

Criswell was replaced by Rich Hill, who gave up two runs in his 2/3 of an inning, and Hill was replaced by Zack Kelly, who gave up two more in his 2/3 of an inning.

Chase Shugart (two innings) and Brennan Bernardino (2/3 of an inning) both had scoreless appearances out of the bullpen.

The Red Sox's offense continued to struggle, as they recorded just six hits and two walks while striking out seven times. Their lone run was scored by Jarren Duran (1-for-4) on an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning.

Romy Gonzalez (2-for-3) was the only member of Boston's lineup to record multiple hits on the day.

This loss drops the Red Sox to 70-67 on the season and 39-29 on the road. They'll remain on the road on Monday for the first of three games against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
