The Seattle Seahawks will be rolling into the 2024 NFL season with three quarterbacks, after all. Geno Smith continues as the established starter going into his third year with the job and Sam Howell is now the primary backup behind him. For a moment it looked like P.J. Walker may complete the picture as the third-stringer but he struck out during the preseason and was a casualty on roster cutdown day.

However, the Seahawks still wanted extra depth at the game's most important position going into the season. According to a report by Tom Pelissero at NFL Network , the team has signed former Minnesota Vikings and BYU QB Jaren Hall to their practice squad.

Hall (6-foot-1, 205 pounds) had a pretty productive couple of years at BYU his last two seasons in college. Hall threw for 5,754 passing yards, 51 touchdowns and 11 interceptions all together from 2021-2022.

That was good enough to get Hall picked in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL draft by the Vikings, but he didn't fare so well when he saw the field as a pro rookie. Hall went 1-1 last year as a starter, throwing no touchdowns and one interception with a 5.1 QBR.

Unless either Smith or Howell get seriously injured at some point during the season Hall will likely stay on the practice squad as he takes more time to develop his game.
