Giants unlikely to shake up front office this winter, per insider

The San Francisco Giants are falling out of postseason contention. With a record of 68-70, the team is 6 1/2 games back of the final National League Wild Card spot.

The Giants are at risk of recording their third consecutive season at .500 or worse, and this has led to speculation that they might choose to move on from President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi.

However, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic expects that the Giants will keep their front office relatively the same.

"This season could be their third straight at .500 or below," Rosenthal wrote. "They are an average team by many measures. But Zaidi, who signed an extension of unknown length last October, could still be safe. Giants owner Greg Johnson is not one for disruption, particularly when his team's attendance increase from 2023 is the seventh largest in the sport."

It appears that Zaidi is safe for the 2025 season, regardless of how things ultimately play out for the Giants. But the product on the field is certainly less than desirable.

After a 107-win season in 2021, the Giants finished .500 in 2022 and 79-83 last season. Blake Snell and Matt Chapman are also expected to opt out of their contracts, leaving some holes on the roster for San Francisco.

For Zaidi to regain the trust of the fanbase, he'll need to find a way to make some major moves this winter to try and improve the team's roster. But for now, San Francisco doesn't appear to be in the market for any personnel changes in the front office.
