French Olympic star turned down playing with Wizards because he didn't want to play for a loser

French Olympic star and former NBA player Evan Fournier turned down playing for the Washington Wizards because he didn’t want to play for a ‘losing team’, and would rather go back to Europe and play there, per Maxime Aubin . The Wizards were 15-67 in the 2023-24 season, and had the second pick in the draft this year.

The Wizards have been a tanking franchise ever since Bradley Beal asked for a trade, and got sent to the Phoenix Suns . Their prime days with John Wall and Bradley Beal have been long gone, and they don’t seem like they are trying to win anytime soon.

The Wizards did make a few moves, acquiring Malcolm Brogdon and Jonas Valanciunas to pair with their current stars, Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole. However, this team was expected to do well anyways last year, and they definitely didn’t. Plus, their number two pick, Alexandre Sarr, hasn’t looked like a lottery pick from his playing time in the Summer League.

The Wizards definitely have some kinks to work out, but if they can, with the roster they have, they have a small to medium chance of being a play-in team.
