Pittsburgh Steelers named possible trade suitor for 2 WRs by NFL analyst

The failure to acquire Brandon Aiyuk from the San Francisco 49ers has left the Pittsburgh Steelers with a major problem at the wide receiver position.

Behind George Pickens, the Steelers are set to roll with Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson. Jefferson looked on his way out of the league in 2023, and Austin and Wilson are both unproven. Taking it a step further, Wilson remains up in the air for Week 1 due to an ankle injury .

Knowing all that, the Steelers should be on the lookout for any move they can make to beef up the receivers room. One NFL analyst, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox , suggests the Steelers as possible trade partners for two wide receivers, the Tennessee Titans ' Treylon Burks and the New York Giants ' Darius Slayton.

Both would certainly be welcomed additions considering the circumstances in Pittsburgh, but one more so than the other.

A former first-round pick, Burks has been incredibly disappointing over two seasons. On top of dealing with injuries, the Arkansas product hasn't been very effective when on the field, making him a total wild card in 2024.

Because the Titans couldn't depend on him, they signed both Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd in free agency, burying Burks on the depth chart. Bringing in a young receiver like Burks would be intriguing, but he's far from a guarantee to make the impact Pittsburgh needs.

Slayton, on the other hand, has been a consistent producer for the Giants during his career, with four seasons of 700 yards or more in the last five. Making that more impressive, Slayton has done that with a lackluster situation under center.

With the Steelers trying to compete in 2024, Slayton would be the better acquisition, but getting Burks certainly wouldn't be a bad idea. Neither receiver would cost much, either.
