    The NFL is back.

The 2024 season will kick off with a rematch of last year's AFC Championship Game with the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs hosting the Ravens.

Kansas City enters this season with the astronomical expectations of becoming the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Meanwhile, Baltimore is looking to rid itself of recent playoff shortcomings and get back to the big game.

Superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce will be back under the spotlight while reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson will play his first game with star running back Derrick Henry by his side in the backfield.

Ravens vs. Chiefs live updates, results, highlights from Thursday night football

    Fourth quarter

11:50 p.m.: Lamar Jackson launches a 38-yard bomb to Rashod Bateman, who made an incredible catch at the Chiefs' 10-yard line! After an incomplete pass to Isaiah Likely, the Ravens will have 10 seconds to gain 10 yards and tie the game.

Likely is down and injured on the play. He has been a major difference-maker with nine receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown.

11:47 p.m.: Lamar Jackson has already picked up two first downs on the ground as the Ravens inch closer to midfield with just over a minute remaining.

11:43 p.m.: The Ravens will start their game-tying drive from their own 21-yard line with 1:50 to play. Let's see what you got, Lamar Jackson.

11:41 p.m.: Patrick Mahomes just caught his own batted pass for a gain of two on 3rd & 10, which was massive for time purposes. Instead of an incompletion to stop the clock, it ticks down to the two-minute warning, costing the Ravens 36 seconds on their potential game-tying drive following a punt.

11:38 p.m.: The Ravens have burned their final timeout after stopping Chiefs fullback Carson Steele in the backfield to force a 3rd & 10 with 2:36 to play.

11:35 p.m.: Isiah Pacheco is relentless. Patrick Mahomes found his running back on a screen pass and it looked like Pacheco had been brought down by the Ravens' defense. Instead, he rolled off the back of two Baltimore players and kept chugging to pick up a first down.

    Chiefs 27, Ravens 20

11:29 p.m.: FIELD GOAL — Justin Tucker hits a 32-yarder to bring the Ravens within one score with 4:54 to play. Lamar Jackson was leading Baltimore down the field on a 13-play drive but the Chiefs' defense held strong inside the red zone. Jackson tried to scamper his way to a first down on 3rd & 6 but was stopped short, forcing the Ravens to settle for three.

11:24 p.m.: Lamar Jackson is over 100 yards rushing on the night after a 13-yard scramble. With 104 yards on the ground, Jackson already surpassed his single-game season-high from last year when he won NFL MVP.

    Chiefs 27, Ravens 17

11:17 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN — Patrick Mahomes finds Xavier Worthy for a 35-yard score, the rookie's second touchdown in his debut! Isiah Pacheco worked the Chiefs' offense into Ravens territory and Mahomes made Baltimore pay for its busted coverage on the pass to Worthy.

    Chiefs 20, Ravens 17

11:08 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN — Lamar Jackson finds Isaiah Likely for an incredible 49-yard score on the first play of the fourth quarter! Jackson was pushed out of the pocket and scrambled all the way to the sideline before he found Likely coming back to the ball. Likely did the rest of the work from there, making a few defensive backs miss before he found the end zone. We have a ball game.

End of third quarter: Chiefs 20, Ravens 10

11:04 p.m.: Penalties continue to kill the Ravens. Lamar Jackson had a clear running lane for a 30-yard chunk play but it was called back on a holding penalty. After a three-yard scramble to end the quarter, the Ravens will start the fourth facing a 2nd & 17 from midfield.

10:56 p.m.: The Chiefs brought the ball into the Ravens' half of the field but couldn't do anything with it. Kansas City punts the ball back to Baltimore, who will take over from its own 20 after a touchback.

10:54 p.m.: Rashee Rice has been everywhere tonight. Patrick Mahomes connects with his favorite receiver for 15 yards and a first down. Rice is up to six receptions for 95 yards on the night.

10:48 p.m.: Lamar Jackson is starting to take some shots down the field with the Ravens down by 10. He tried to find Isaiah Likely deep over the middle on 2nd & 12, then targeted Zay Flowers on a go-route on 3rd & 12 but both passes fell incomplete. The Chiefs will take over from their own 10-yard line after a Ravens punt.

    Chiefs 20, Ravens 10

10:38 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN — Isiah Pacheco punches in a one-yard touchdown after a game of tug-of-war between the offensive and defensive line. A 13-yard reception from Noah Gray set up the easy score for Kansas City.

10:34 p.m.: The Chiefs had a holding penalty to take them out of the red zone but the Ravens responded with a costly roughing the passer penalty on 2nd & 20 to put Kansas City on Baltimore's 14-yard line with a fresh set of downs.

10:32 p.m.: Patrick Mahomes is marching the Chiefs down the field to open the second half. Rashee Rice continued his big day with a 33-yard reception to ignite the drive, then Justin Watson hauled in a 25-yard catch to put Kansas City in the red zone.

    Halftime: Chiefs 13, Ravens 10

10:09 p.m.: FIELD GOAL — Justin Tucker hits a 25-yarder to make up for his last miss. The Chiefs' defense holds strong in the red zone to keep the Ravens out of the end zone as we head into halftime.

10:03 p.m.: The Ravens are driving. Lamar Jackson dished to Justice Hill for a gain of seven, dashed for 16 yards, and then threw a sweet sidearm pass to Isaiah Likely for a gain of nine. Baltimore is in the red zone with 27 seconds remaining.

10:00 p.m.: INTERCEPTION — Roquan Smith picks off Patrick Mahomes on the first play of the Chiefs' two-minute drill! A massive turnover as the Ravens' offense takes over at midfield with 1:44 to play in the half.

9:56 p.m.: MISSED FIELD GOAL — Justin Tucker is no good from 53 yards out. The most accurate kicker in NFL history with a rare miss, although he has had his struggles from 50-plus. The Chiefs will take over from their own 43-yard line with 1:50 remaining in the half.

9:52 p.m.: The Ravens are slowly working their way into Chiefs' territory, bringing the ball to the KC 35 as we hit the two-minute warning. Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers are doing the majority of the legwork as Baltimore looks to put some points on the board before halftime.

    Chiefs 13, Ravens 7

9:44 p.m.: FIELD GOAL — Harrison Butker knocks in a 31-yard chip shot. Another red zone stand for the Ravens' defense after breaking up a potential touchdown between Patrick Mahomes and Xavier Worthy on third down.

9:39 p.m.: Travis Kelce, thanks for joining us. The Chiefs star tight end has his first big play of the game — a 23-yard pitch-and-catch off some improvisation from Patrick Mahomes, who became the Chiefs' all-time passing leader as a result.

9:34 p.m.: TURNOVER ON DOWNS — The Ravens went for it on 4th & 3 from the 50-yard line but the Zay Flowers screen pass did not work. Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie made the open-field tackle to get the stop. Kansas City takes over from its own 49 with 9:39 to play in the half.

    Chiefs 10, Ravens 7

9:25 p.m.: FIELD GOAL — Harrison Butker knocks in a 32-yard field goal as the Chiefs take their medicine. A Travis Kelce holding penalty on the first play of the drive set Kansas City back. Juju Smith-Schuster nearly had a touchdown on third and long but the ball popped out. A strong stop of the Ravens' defense.

9:22 p.m.: FUMBLE — Lamar Jackson was stripped by Chris Jones on the first play of the drive and the Chiefs recovered the loose ball! Kansas City takes over in the red zone after the turnover.

End of first quarter: Ravens 7, Chiefs 7

9:17 p.m.: Ravens linebacker David Ojabo sacks Patrick Mahomes on 3rd & 8 to stop the Chiefs' drive at the end of the first quarter. Kansas City will punt to open the second quarter.

9:10 p.m.: The Ravens picked up a first down on the first play of the drive but went three-and-out after that. The Chiefs will take over from their own 10-yard line with 2:55 to play in the quarter after a punt from Jordan Stout.

    Ravens 7, Chiefs 7

9:04 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN — Xavier Worthy, welcome to the NFL! Head coach Andy Reid draws up a beautiful wide receiver reverse for the speedster, who dashed 21 yards into the end zone for the first score of his career.

9:02 p.m.: Now it's the Chiefs converting on third down. Patrick Mahomes hits Rashee Rice for a gain of 16 on 3rd & 6. Roquan Smith was charged with a horse collar penalty after the play, adding an additional 15 yards to bring the ball to the Ravens' 36.

    Ravens 7, Chiefs 0

8:56 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN — Derrick Henry punches in a five-yard touchdown on his first drive in a Ravens uniform! Baltimore leads 7-0 with 8:14 to play in the first quarter.

8:54 p.m.: That's now three third-down conversions for the Ravens. Lamar Jackson kept the ball on a read option for a gain of 11 on 3rd & 1. Baltimore is in the red zone with the ball on the Chiefs' 13-yard line.

8:52 p.m.: A flurry of penalties hasn't slowed down the Ravens offense yet. Lamar Jackson finds Zay Flowers for a gain of 19 on 3rd & 9 to march the ball into Chiefs territory.

8:48 p.m.: Justice Hill saves the Ravens from a three-and-out after he picked up 18 yards on a pass from Lamar Jackson on 3rd & 11 to move the chains and keep the drive alive.

8:45 p.m.: So much for the NFL's new kickoff rule. Harrison Butker booted the ball out of the back of the end zone and the Ravens will take over from the 30-yard line to start the season.
