The Cincinnati Bengals are preparing to kick off the 2024 season by hosting the New England Patriots in Week 1 at Paycor Stadium.

Coming off a disappointing season that was marred by injuries, specifically Joe Burrow's wrist, the Bengals are looking to get back into playoff contention with sights on returning to the Super Bowl.

There already has been a bit of drama circulating in Cincinnati amid the Ja'Marr Chase contract negotiations , but he has practiced twice in a limited capacity.

Ahead of the Week 1 matchup, Sporting News will have the latest updates on the injury report for the Bengals throughout the week.

Bengals injury report NFL Week 1

    QB Joe Burrow (right wrist)

    • Wednesday: Full Participant
    • Thursday: Full Participant

Burrow's 2023 season was a disappointment on a pretty high level. It started with a bothersome calf injury that lingered into the start of the season and then ended with Burrow needing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his wrist. However, all systems are go for the franchise quarterback entering Week 1.

    WR Ja'Marr Chase (rest)

    • Wednesday: Limited Participant
    • Thursday: Limited Participant

It's still unknown whether Chase will suit up for the Bengals in Week 1, though it seems to be trending that way. The superstar wideout is being listed on the injury report with a "rest" designation, but that's a formality considering the hold-in he's been conducting as he seeks a new contract. The fact that he's practicing bodes well for his chances to play, but the only thing that guarantees his status is the announcement of what likely will be a historic contract .

    WR Tee Higgins (hamstring)

    • Wednesday: Full Participant
    • Thursday: Limited Participant

Soft tissue injuries are always concerning, especially leading into the season. Higgins popped up on the injury report following Thursday's practice, which is never a good sign. However, the star wideout didn't seem at all concerned about his status going into the weekend, telling reporters he feels "amazing" for Week 1. His participation level during Friday's practice will give us a better idea of his status for the weekend.

    WR Jermaine Burton (toe)

    • Wednesday: Full Participant
    • Thursday: Full Participant

The rookie wideout wasn't on the injury report to begin the week but was added following Thursday's practice. The fact that he was still listed as a full participant means there likely isn't a concern he will miss Week 1. He's not fully out of the woods yet, but the preseason standout should be ready for the opener barring a setback.

    OT Amarius Mims (pectoral)

    • Wednesday: Limited Participant
    • Thursday: Limited Participant

The Bengals' massive first-round pick was surprisingly on the field this week after missing the last several weeks due to a pectoral injury. The 6-foot-8 tackle is expected to begin the season as the backup right tackle behind veteran Trent Brown, who signed a two-year deal with the Bengals in free agency.

    LB Akeem Davis-Gaither (rest)

    • Wednesday: Limited Participant
    • Thursday: Full Participant

The former fourth-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft was simply given a rest day Wednesday and was taken off the injury report following Thursday's practice. He's expected to start the season as depth behind Germaine Pratt and Logan Wilson.

    DT Kris Jenkins (thumb)

    • Wednesday: Limited Participant
    • Thursday: Limited Participant

The 22-year-old has been limited both days to begin the week so he seems to be trending toward playing against the Patriots, barring a setback. The Bengals spent a second-round pick on Jenkins in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he's expected to begin the season as a depth piece behind B.J. Hill.
