The Golden Gophers struggled mightily last week against the Tar Heels, with Brosmer facing constant pressure from the UNC front seven and top running back Darius Taylor sidelined with an injury. Overall, Brosmer completed just 13 of his 21 pass attempts for 165 yards and failed to throw for a touchdown.

As for Rhode Island, Farrell's first career start went very well. He amassed 341 total yards of offense and led a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter. Down four points with 1:47 remaining, he converted on two third downs and a fourth-and-10 before hitting Shawn Harris Jr. for a go-ahead touchdown with 19 seconds left.
