After a statement win for the Texas Longhorns, head coach Steve Sarkisian was proud of the overall team effort of his team.

"It's a good start to the season, we're 2-0," Sarkisian said. "We have a long way to go."

The 31-12 win by the Longhorns marks the first loss by the Wolverines since the 2022 season. It also breaks a 23-game home win streak for the Wolverines.

There was a complete team effort by the Longhorns to win on the road against the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines.

The Longhorns won the all-important turnover battle 3-0. Coach Sarkisian said, "When you win the turnover battle 3-0 it's generally a pretty good result for your team."

Coach Sarkisian also praised his offense for how well they stayed in front of the chains. They made positive plays and avoided tackles for losses.

He said how proud he was of his team for coming into a hostile environment and coming away with a good win for the team this season.

"This one game isn't going to define our season," Sarkisian said. "But, it will serve as a good barometer of the type of team we could be."

On the value of wide receiver Gunnar Helm, coach Sarkisian praised how he has improved not only in his pass-catching but in how well he makes defenders miss.

Helm was the leading receiver in the game with seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. He showed off the ability to make people miss, averaging 14 yards per reception for the game.

"We are at our best offensively when we can run the football, use the play-action pass, option," Sarkisian said. "If we can't run it with a physical mentality, then the other aspects become difficult"

He also addressed what the win does for his time, in this environment.

"I reminded the guys about how we've gone into Tuscaloosa and won, played in the Big 12 championship, college football playoffs," Sarkisian said. "This is who we are, this is how we know how to play."

He praised his team's composure and ability to take out the crowd on the road.
