Who plays on 'Sunday Night Football' tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for NFL Week 1 game

    By Jared Greenspan,

The first "Sunday Night Football" game of the 2024 NFL season features the Lions and the Rams in a playoff rematch from a year ago.

Last season, Detroit secured its first playoff victory in 32 years with a 24-23 win over Los Angeles in the NFC wild-card round. In doing so, the Lions foiled Matthew Stafford's return to Ford Field, as the Rams quarterback previously spent 12 years with Detroit.

Stafford, who famously received a shower of boos in last year's matchup, will look for redemption in Week 1. With the emergence of running back Kyren Williams and receiver Puka Nacua — along with the steady presence of receiver Cooper Kupp — Stafford's Rams have the makings of a high-octane offense.

So do the Lions, who enter the season with atypically high expectations on the heels of one of their best campaigns in franchise history. Veteran quarterback Jared Goff is surrounded by All-Pro receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and second-year running back Jahmyr Gibbs, the young anchors to head coach Dan Campbell's blossoming group.
