The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to look for a new punter after their starter, Cameron Johnston, suffered an apparent serious injury during the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons .

Johnston suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the 18-10 win when he got run into by a Falcons defender. Johnston's foot was stuck in the ground and it led to his leg twisting awkwardly.

After the game, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed that Johnston appears to have a "serious" injury, according to Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot , which is just terrible news for the 32-year-old punter.

Tomlin did not go into specifics about the injury, but it's probably to Johnston's knee. One would assume we won't see him again in 2024, but that has yet to be confirmed. We'll know more in due time.

Kicker Chris Boswell, who went 6-for-6 on field goals in the game, came in as the emergency punter when Johnston exited and booted his lone attempt for 43 yards.

Johnston was signed earlier this offseason to a three-year, $9 million deal and had a fantastic offseason. Prior to signing in Pittsburgh, Johnston played for three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and three seasons with the Houston Texans.
