Denver Broncos do something the NFL hardly ever sees in first half against Seahawks

    By Travis Wakeman,

The Denver Broncos have scored 13 points in the first half against the Seattle Seahawks. That is a common score, but how they got there is very uncommon. The Broncos have kicked three field goals and recorded two safeties. Yes... two safeties.

It's not common to see a team have two safeties in a season, let alone one half. The last time a team even had two safeties in one game was in 2017 . You have to go all the way back to 2011 to find the last time it happened in one half. The St. Louis Rams accomplished the feat on that day.

The first 2-pointer came when Seahawks guard Anthony Bradford was called for holding in the end zone. That put the Broncos up 5-3. After the Seahawks took a 9-8 lead, the Broncos again pinned them on the 1-yard line with a punt and on the very next play, Zach Charbonnet was tackled in the end zone by Zach Allen and Jonathon Cooper to give the Broncos their second safety of the second quarter.

Broncos could make history with a third safety

The safeties have created some excitement in an otherwise ugly game. The Broncos' defense has looked quite good, but the offense, led by a rookie quarterback, has been stagnant.

The Broncos last had two safeties in a game back in 1983, also on the road against the Seahawks. That is ironic, since the last time the team had a rookie quarterback to start Week 1 was also 1983.

The Los Angeles Rams are the only team in NFL history with three safeties in one game. They did that on September 30, 1984, against the New York Giants. Two of those safeties came on blocked punts that went out of the end zone.
