Now this is what we all love about sports. Seeing the best in the world come together, to compete head to head; while appreciating each other’s own success and greatness as well. Two of the “Golden Girls” put on a show today in gymnastics and displayed the correct Olympic spirit. Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles medal in the Floor Exercise final while displaying the ultimate sportsmanship as Rebeca Andrade wins the Gold!

It is a scene and photograph that can make anyone smile. Chiles and Biles showing respect to their opponent as she steps on the podium. Brazilian superstar, Rebeca Andrade had battled to get back to elite athleticism. Suffering through not one, but three ACL injuries. However, on Monday she would finally get what she has wanted the most… gold.

Rebeca Andrade had definitely been the USA’s toughest opponent as well as competition since the Games commenced. She is strong. She’s not afraid to go big and switch to more challenging routines. And she can handle any and all pressure.

Therefore, when it comes to another gymnast that can rival the legendary Simone Biles in floor exercise as well as vault; Rebeca Andrade is certainly THAT GIRL. However, to become the queen of the floor she had to get past our girls. Jordan Chiles as well as the American GOAT, Simone Biles.

Chiles and Biles were both electric. Flipping, dancing, tumbling and showcasing their insane talents to the tunes of Beyoncé. However, today just was not their day. A few mistakes were made. And with the competition being so tight, no athlete can afford to make barely any errors if they wish to contend for a gold medal. Any flubs and they can immediately see themselves start to slide down that podium.

Nevertheless, Jordan and Simone still had plenty to celebrate and be proud of in Paris. Their routines were still medal worthy. The pair nabbed a silver (Biles) and the bronze medal (Chiles). Adding on to the gold that the USA had won in the Team event.

But Andrade ended up being the BEST. And Jordan and Simone wanted to make sure she knew it. After the floor competition Biles says,

She’s so amazing. She’s queen. And first it was an all-Black podium so that was super exciting for [all of] us. But Jordan was like should we bow to her and I was like absolutely. So we’re like are we going to do it now and then that’s why we did it. She’s such an excitement to watch and then all the fans in the crowd, always cheering for her so it just, it was just the right thing to do. She’s queen!”

Jordan Chiles’ sentiments mirrored Simone’s thoughts. She mentions,

“She’s an icon, a legend herself. So I feel like being recognized is what everybody should do when it comes to somebody who’s put in the work, put in the dedication. So yeah, in that moment I was like you know what…why don’t we just give her her flowers. She’s given, not only has she given Simone her flowers but a lot of us in the United States our flowers as well. Giving it back is what makes it so beautiful.”

Nice! We love to see it. With a score of 14.166 Andrade finished just ahead of Biles at 14.133. As for Jordan, she initially received a 13.666 from judges. After some delay, her total was boosted by 0.1 due to her routine’s difficulty. Congratulations to these ladies.
