In sports, generosity is always appreciated. And giving back to the next generation; as well as to where you came from, will never be something ignored. This week the Kansas City Chiefs’ champion quarterback and his wife opened up their wallet in the name of college sports. In order to provide financing towards a building project, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes donated $5 Million to Texas Tech.

And Texas Tech is extremely grateful. The school released an official statement to explain just how Pat and Brittany’s donation will make a difference in their Womble Football Center endeavor. And what exactly will be dedicated to the Mahomes for their act of giving. Texas Tech reveals,

“Alumnus Patrick Mahomes II has provided the final gift of the historic Campaign for Fearless Champions as he and his wife Brittany have dedicated $5 million towards the $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project.

In recognition of the gift, Texas Tech will name its soon-to-be-completed walkthrough area in the Womble Football Center in his name. The three-time Super Bowl champion will also be recognized by being the namesake for Texas Tech’s quarterback meeting room and the offensive coordinator’s office in the new South End Zone Building to Jones AT&T Stadium.

Mahomes’ gift pushes Texas Tech’s fundraising efforts to $115 million for the south end zone and Womble Football Center project, surpassing the athletics department’s initial goal of $100 million. Texas Tech will celebrate further details regarding The Campaign for Fearless Champions in the coming days.”

Patrick Mahomes Announces Adidas NIL Class “Team Mahomes

Very nice. Moreover, Mahomes is the perfect “face” for anything Texas Tech related. He set an extremely high bar as a player. To show you what we mean, let’s just quickly review a few of his college stats for kicks.

In the Texas Tech career record book, Mahomes ranks among the elite passers in Texas Tech history despite foregoing his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. Patrick ended his career ranked third in passing yards (11,252), touchdown passes (93), attempts (1,349) and completions (857). He also ranked second all-time among Red Raider quarterbacks with 22 rushing touchdowns. Additionally, when everything was said and done at Texas Tech; Mahomes was second in touchdowns responsible for (115); third in career in yards of total offense (12,097) as well as career attempts (1,657).

So then, Mahomes is one of their successful stars and athletes. He knows what it takes to win and also build toward a good future. With that being said, Patrick Mahomes is also aware of the importance of students receiving NIL opportunities.

In recent years NIL deals have come more into the spotlight. Allowing young talents to profit in college as they work hard to become a pro athlete. On Friday, Patrick Mahomes also made history by signing six Texas Tech players to NIL deals, in collaboration with Adidas; with his “Team Mahomes.”

So far, full terms of the endorsement contracts are not available. However, the six athletes that have been selected will participate in Adidas brand marketing campaigns. Campaigns that will include marketing Mahomes’ signature shoe and apparel line with Adidas.

Patrick spoke about “Team Mahomes” in a recent statement. He says,

“The energy around this partnership has been incredible, and this announcement shows just how important this is to me, Adidas and Texas Tech. Adidas has been a collaborative partner from the start, and we worked together to select athletes who are among the best and embody the drive and dedication we’re looking for in a Team Mahomes athlete. We’ve got a lot of great stuff coming up for the Red Raiders – stay tuned for more.”
