Elizabeth Students Use Dance To Explore Mental Health
ELIZABETH, NJ - Elizabeth middle school students participated in a customized workshop earlier this month where they used dance and art to explore mental health and disabilities. Project BrOKen’s Healing Stage Workshops, created by Union County resident María Daniel, incorporate dance, movement, improvisation, music, props, and expressive art experiences. The students reported feeling less anxious, more self-aware, focused, confident, calm, creative, happier, and more comfortable within themselves. Students also reported an increase in self-confidence and learned new coping mechanisms through arts engagement and breathing exercises. Lightning Halts Westfield/SOM Cougars NPGL 11U 2nd Round Playoff Game
Mother Nature called the shots in the New Providence Green League 11U second-round playoff game between the Westfield Black and the South-Orange-Maplewood (SOM) Cougars at Gumbert Field 2 in Westfield on July 16.After eight SOM Cougars created some lightning of their own in the top of the first inning, a series of lightning strikes in the vicinity kept the coaches, fans and players off the field long enough to force the showdown to another day.

Old Bridge Couple Sentenced for Unlicensed Medical Practice and Assault
OLD BRIDGE, NJ - An Old Bridge couple were sentenced in Middlesex County in connection with the unlicensed practice of medicine and two sexual assaults that occurred in July 2022. An adult female victim went to receive medical treatment at the residence of Orger Sibaja-Bolanos, 67, of Old Bridge, who posed as a doctor. Sibaja-Bolanos sexually assaulted her and gave her injections. The subsequent investigation revealed that Sibaja-Bolanos’s wife, Rosa Perez, 64, of Old Bridge, assisted with the unlicensed medical practice.
