Sayreville Knights of Columbus "Cruisin at Kennedy Park" Classic Car Show
SAYREVILLE, NJ - The Sayreville Knights of Columbus will host their "Cruisin' at Kennedy Park" Classic Car Show on Wednesday, July 24. 9 injured, dozens of flights canceled or delayed after fire breaks out at JFK Airport in New York
Nine people suffered minor injuries and dozens of flights were impacted after a small fire broke out at JFK Airport in New York on Wednesday morning.The fire broke out on an escalator in Concourse C and spewed smoke through Terminal 8 around 7:15 a.m.About 960 people were evacuated from the area and taken to another part of the terminal. Nine people were injured -- all with minor smoke inhalation -- and four were taken to the hospital to be checked out.The FDNY ventilated the terminal and it was cleared to reopen.American Airlines, which occupies the terminal, said three American Eagle regional departures were canceled as a result of the fire, out of 89 total American flights scheduled to depart from Kennedy on Wednesday.The airport suggests checking with your carrier before traveling.The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
Edison Man Sentenced to 5 Years in State Prison for Deadly Crash in Piscataway
EDISON, NJ - An Edison man has been sentenced to five years in prison following a deadly crash last year in Piscataway, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday. Ahmadsabir Ashaq, age 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide in March. On June 3, 2023, at 1:41 a.m., police responded to Stelton Road and Mindy Lane in Piscataway, where Ashaq's Lexus sedan crashed into Shailesh Gurrapu's Ford Focus, killing the 24-year-old Gurrapu.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER A preliminary investigation found Ashaq was driving 110 miles per hour just seconds before the crash.
