SPRINGDALE, Ark. – Federal officials are seeking assistance from residents near Springdale to help the community recover from severe storms that touched down during Memorial Day weekend.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is looking for locals with experience in customer service, logistics, environmental protection, engineering or emergency management.
Arkansas Red Cross hosting disaster response volunteer training FEMA officials said the jobs are full-time, 120-day positions that could be extended based on operational needs.
The job opportunity comes nearly two months after severe storms, tornadoes and flooding impacted parts of northern Arkansas May 24-27.
Arkansas Division of Emergency Management updates Memorial Day weekend severe weather death toll to 10 The National Weather Service confirmed that at least 17 tornadoes touched down in the state, and the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management said that at least 10 people were killed.
Officials with the NWS Storm Prediction Center said that April and May had the second most tornadoes on record. As of mid-June, Arkansas had seen 31 tornadoes, with 25 of them touching down in May.
