A Jacksonville teenager wanted in the June 6 fatal shooting of another teen just off that city's downtown area was arrested in Springfield on July 1.

Larry W. Taylor, 18, was arrested by U.S Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force out of Springfield and the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit.

According to Springfield Police Chief Ken Scarlette, Taylor was arrested in the 2000 block of East Pine Street.

On June 7, the Morgan County State’s Attorney put out a first-degree murder arrest warrant for Taylor in connection with the shooting of Trenton D. Jackson, also 18.

Jacksonville Police said the shooting happened in the 300 block of West College Avenue.

Jackson was taken to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital where he died of gunshot injuries.

Taylor is in custody of the Sangamon County Jail.
