Serious accident closes Exit 5 in downtown Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Exit 5 on I-91 North in downtown Springfield was closed off Tuesday afternoon due to an accident.

State police were called to the accident shortly after 4:15 Tuesday evening. According to police, there were reports of serious injuries.

22News was able to capture video from the top of Monarch Place. We have reached out to authorities and are waiting to hear back with more information. 22News will continue to provide updates as soon as they become available.
