Hot, humid, and stormy forecast for the 4th of July

It will be another hot and steamy day around the Ozarks. A cold front will be working through, leaving the southern half of the area with the highest temperatures. The National Weather Service has placed the southern half of the Ozarks under a HEAT ADVISORY, with the Arkansas counties under an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING. In the warned area we can expect heat indices to top out near 110°.

A few showers are moving through the area early Wednesday, but I think we will see a break from the chance of rain later this morning and into the early afternoon. Around dinnertime, the threat for stronger storms will increase. Strong winds and heavy downpours will be possible with storms that develop.

Temperatures will stay toasty for the 4th of July, we will also see strong storms. We will likely start off the day with a few thunder boomers, and then we should take a break from rain late in the morning and into the afternoon. The chance for storms will return later in the day. I think any early day parades or lunchtime cookouts will be dry. Firework shows could be in jeopardy.

Over the next two days, it will be important to stay weather aware. These storms could pack a punch quickly across the Ozarks. Our weather app could come in very handy.

Once the cold front clears the area, we will be in for a delightful weekend. Temperatures will be in the 80’s and we will stay dry until Sunday evening.
