The recently retired leader of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks will serve as Executive in Residence at Drury University.

Brian Fogle, the former president and CEO, will be part of the faculty in the new role.

His job will be to connect Drury students with nonprofit organizations, where they can help meet the needs and the challenges of the communities served by the nonprofits. The students will learn skills and leadership that will serve them in the workplace.

“Throughout my career whether serving on boards, or working directly for a non-profit, I have seen the incredible difference they make in our community, state, and nation. At Drury, we hope to match that passion and commitment of non-profits with world-class educational opportunities to help make them even more effective," said Fogle, in a Monday news release.

"The non-profit sector currently employs over 10% of our country’s workforce, and we look forward to providing resources to have employees even better prepared for that important work."

Fogle joined CFO in 2008 and retired earlier this year. Prior to CFO, he spent 30 years in banking. He has been active in numerous civic and nonprofit groups.

Currently, Fogle chairs the Good Community Committee, the Missouri College Access Network, and the Rural Schools Collaborative. He also serves on the Boards of the Missouri Scholarship and Loan Foundation, and Restore SGF.

He received the O. Franklin Kenworthy Leadership Award in 1990, the National Community Leadership Award in 1993, and the Springfieldian Award in 2010. In December 2011, Drury awarded him an honorary doctorate of humane letters.

Among other options, Drury offers a master's degree in nonprofit and civic leadership and nonprofit leadership certificate.

“Brian has spent his career providing leadership and service to the greater Springfield area," said Provost Beth Harville, in the release. "Drury is fortunate to have Brian engaging with our students and teaching them how to impact their community."
