Summer heat and humidity was swept out of the area by Wednesday’s cold front. That’s left us with a September preview with temperatures running 5 to 10° below normal into the weekend.

For tonight, we’ll enjoy clear and quiet weather with bright moonshine. Temperatures will slip into the upper 50s and low 60s by sunrise.

The cool morning air will warm through the 60s and into the 70s under mainly sunny skies in the morning. Clouds will bubble up with partly to mostly cloudy skies during the afternoon. This will keep afternoon highs comfortable.

We can expect more of the same Saturday. If you’ve got camping plans this weekend, the weather looks ideal, at least for the first half of the weekend.

The pattern will take a turn for the cloudier and wetter by Sunday as a storm dives into the middle of the country.

The storm will boost rain chances and keep temperatures mild into the first half of next week. Rounds of scattered showers and storms are likely during this time, but rainfall doesn’t look overly heavy.

The latest guidance suggests that the trough will persist through late next week. This will help keep temperatures a little below normal as we kick off the Ozark Empire Fair. “Typical” summer heat will gradually creep back into the area over the following weekend.
