For the past 34 years, the Price Cutter Charity Championship has been a staple to the Ozarks community. Each summer, over 150 golfers come to Springfield in hopes of winning the top prize. This year’s $180,000 prize will be the highest in tournament history.

If you have never been to a major golf tournament, Sports Director Dan Lucy says this year’s tournament is a perfect place to start, “The weather is perfect. It can’t get any better than this.”

What is the Price Cutter Charity Championship?

The tournament began in 1990, and since the inaugural year, the tournament has raised more than $20.5 million dollars for local children’s charities.

The Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper is part of the Korn Ferry Tour . The Korn Ferry Tour is the developmental tour for the PGA Tour. The tournament features professional golfers who have either not reached the PGA tour, or who have done so but haven’t stayed at that level.

    When is the tournament?

The PCCC will be held from Thursday, July 18 – Sunday, July 21, 2024. As for the best day to go, Dan Lucy says it all depends.

“Friday will have more golfers than you do on Saturday and Sunday. After Friday the field will get cut in half,” explains Lucy.

On Sunday, the leaders will go last. Lucy says they usually make it to hole 18 around 3:30 or 4 p.m.

    Where should I go?

The PCCC is hosted at Highland Springs Country Club at 5400 S. Highland Springfields Blvd, Springfield, MO, 65808.

Parking lots are available. General parking is $10 per day. Lucy said to take advantage of the shuttle busses that run from the parking lot to the entrance.

Places with air conditioning, and most of the stands require a special ticket. Many people go from hole to hole to watch their favorite golfers. It’s also acceptable to find a shade tree and stay put for the afternoon.

    Anything else I should know?

“Wear walking shoes, bring a chair, and water,” says Lucy, “the major intersection of the golf course is right in front of the clubhouse.”

At the tournament, people usually take one of two approaches. You can find one hole and sit there, or you can find your favorite golfer and follow them hole to hole. At the 18th hole there will be bleachers, but those seats are purchased for an extra cost.
