SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Some guys just won’t retire. Three of them will be on stage Sunday night at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena .

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are 80 (Jagger turns 81 next week). Ron Wood is 76. The Stones first landed on the pop charts in 1964 with “Not Fade Away.” The following year, “Satisfaction” held the top spot on the charts for four weeks, starting a staggering six decades-long run of hits.

I was lucky enough to see them perform at Busch Stadium in the early 1980s. They were incredible. Mick Jagger’s energy on stage blew me away. 41 years later, he’ll be entertaining the Ozarks in Ridegdale. That is incredible longevity.

The Stones, who are without drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021, have produced 57 songs that have made the top 100.

Eight of them have soared to the #1 spot:

    • “Brown Sugar”
    • “Miss You”
    • “Ruby Tuesday”
    • “Paint It Black”
    • “Honky Tonk Women”
    • “Angie”
    • “Get Off My Cloud”
    • “Satisfaction”

They are one of ten musical acts to have sold a combined 250 million records. For what it’s worth, Forbes lists The Stones as the sixth greatest rock band in history. They are rock and roll royalty.
