Willamalane kicks off annual summer concert series
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Willamalane’s annual Concerts in the Park series is on for the summer, with the fun kicking off on Wednesday night at Island Park in Springfield. Performing at this summer’s inaugural July 17 concert was the Sugar Beets, a Eugene-based band that performed traditional and contemporary bluegrass, folk, and country songs. The concert saw the biggest turnout in several years, according to organizers. Willamalane staff said that, in addition to a good time for attendees, Concerts in the Park is all for a good cause as Willamalane raised $1,000 for its food pantry and collected more than 1,500 pounds of food donations.
Level Two evacuation ordered for area north of Oakridge due to fire
OAKRIDGE, Ore. – Officials have increased the urgency of an earlier evacuation notice as firefighters work to contain the High Prairie Fire north of Oakridge. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said the area of east High Prairie Road near milepost 5, including Dead Mountain, Mountain View, Huckleberry and High Prairie Loop, are under a Level Two (Be Set) evacuation notice. Individuals in the area are urged to prepare to leave at a moment’s notice, and are advised that authorities may not be able to notify them if conditions worsen.
Lane County opens large animal shelter amid High Prairie Fire evacuations
EUGENE, Ore. — On July 18th Lane County set up a large animal and livestock evacuation shelter for those in the Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation area of the High Prairie Fire. If you are located in the Level 2 evacuation area, you can bring your large animals to the arena in Howard Buford Recreation Area located at: 34901 Frank Parrish Road, in Eugene.
Oregon wildfire spotted near Blue River east of Eugene
A wildfire broke out Tuesday afternoon off state route 126 in the Cascade Range, sending a plume of smoke above the evergreens amid high temperatures and red flag warnings across western Oregon. Smoke was reported just after 1 p.m. north of Blue River Reservoir, about 50 miles east of Eugene.
Weekly Concerts in the Park Series Returns to Island Park this July and August
