HAHNVILLE, La. – The Waterworks Billing Office in St. Charles Parish, severely damaged by Hurricane Ida, has been fully renovated and is reopened, announced President Matthew Jewell. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was Monday, February 19, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at the office located at 301 Third Street in Luling, with President Jewell and Parish Council members in attendance.

The 3,600-square-foot building suffered significant damage when its roof and ceiling collapsed during Hurricane Ida. The renovation focused on improving the office’s functionality for the Waterworks Billing Staff and upgrading the building to meet the latest building codes. Enhancements include an expanded customer lobby and a new conference room for private discussions between customers and staff. Repairs were also made to the Treatment Plant, including the roof, exterior walls, and panels.

President Jewell expressed his enthusiasm for the project’s completion, stating, “It is great to see these Hurricane Ida repairs come to fruition so our Waterworks team can return to normal operations. Not only will our staff have a space that makes it easier for them to provide excellent customer service, but the residents and businesses of St. Charles Parish will have a comfortable place where they can come to make payments and discuss account matters.”

The project, completed by Luling-based Pintail Contracting Services, Inc., cost $1.4 million and marks a significant step in restoring and improving facilities for both the Waterworks staff and the St. Charles Parish community at large.
