The NHL season may not start until October 20th, but it's never too early to take a look at the betting odds. The Florida Panthers won the Atlantic Division last season on their way to hoisting the Stanley Cup.

Who will win one of the most challenging divisions in hockey next season? Here are the five teams favored to top the Atlantic in 2024-25.

    5) Detroit Red Wings +1100

Last year, the Detroit Red Wings had their best record since 2015-16 but were dead last in a tough Atlantic Division. Detriot added Tyler Motte and Vladimir Tarasenko during free agency. Tarasenko scored 23 goals and tallied 32 assists in 76 games. He scored another five goals for the Florida Panthers during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Add Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat, and the Red Wings could be able to win their first division title since 2010-11.

    4) Boston Bruins +450

The Bruins Championship window has run out; however, Boston will be very competitive in 2024. The Bruins added Elias Lindholm in free agency, signing him to a seven-year, $52.5 million deal. Lindholm has 218 goals and 557 points in 818 career games and will become the top center on the Bruins roster. Boston is probably the third-best team in the division right now, so +450 odds seem about right.

    3) Tampa Bay Lightning +450

For the first time since 2007, the Tampa Bay Lightning are entering a season without Steven Stamkos on their roster. The two-time All-Star signed with the Nashville Predators in free agency. The Lightning signed Jake Guentzel in free agency and re-signed defenseman Victor Hedman. Despite winning back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021, Tampa Bay hasn't won a division championship since 2018-19. The Lightning could push for the Atlantic Division next season if all the pieces come together.

    2) Toronto Maple Leafs +300

Will this season be the one for the Toronto Maple Leafs? After getting over the 'first-round playoff hump' in 2023, Leafs fans were left disappointed again when the team lost to the Boston Bruins in round one this year. The big four (Matthews, Tavares, Marner & Nylander) will return to Toronto this fall in a must-win situation for everyone involved. With a new head coach in Craig Berbue, can the Leafs win the Atlantic Division for the first time since 2021? Vegas gives them the second-best odds at +300.

    1) Florida Panthers +190

The Florida Panthers are the betting favorites to win the Atlantic Division again next season. The Cats will have a strong club again in 2024-25, with several star players returning, including Sam Reinhart, Matthew Tkachuk, Aleksander Barkov, and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. Florida might start the season in a slump, but they'll find their way to the top of the divison by the end of the year.
