Brian Snitker Gets EJECTED From Brewers Game- His First Ejection Of The Year!

Amid a disastrous losing streak, Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker gets ejected from the Braves vs. Brewers game for arguing with Plate Umpire Brian Walsh over an unfair strike call... and this ejection was exactly what the Braves needed to get fired up.

Does Brian Snitker's First Ejection Of The Season Mean That Things Are Finally Turning Around For The Atlanta Braves?

On Wednesday, August 7, the Atlanta Braves played against the Milwaukee Brewers. During the game, plate umpire Brian Walsh made what Awful Announcing calls "several questionable calls that went against Atlanta." Things came to a head in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Braves right fielder Jorge Stoler stepped up to the plate. The first two pitches thrown to Stoler were well below the strike zone, but Walsh called them strikes anyway. Athlon Sports reports that Braves Manager Brian Snitker " immediately trotted out of the dugout with some choice words for Walsh, and the umpire didn't take long to wag the finger and send Snitker into the clubhouse. Snitker continued to get his money's worth, giving Walsh a good chewing – just like his predecessor Bobby Cox would've done." This led to "the first Braves ejection of the year."

The Broadcast Crew - consisting of Tom Glavine, Chipper Jones, John Smoltz, and Jeff Francoeur- admitted that Snitker was "warranted in doing this." Glavine said “It’s been a very inconsistent strike zone, mostly gone against the Braves. You’ve got a little bit of a frustrating time going on right now. So Snit is going to get his money’s worth and fire his folks up at the same time.” X User NoahGG01 posted an image showing how inconsistent the strike zone was.

Despite Snitker's efforts to stand up for his team, the Atlanta Braves lost 8-5 against the Milwaukee Brewers. According to Battery Power, " The Braves came into Wednesday’s game having gone 24-straight innings without a run." Though they were able to break this streak and score a few runs, they lost to the Brewers and extended their losing streak to four straight games. This loss puts the Braves at 60-53 for the season.

This four-game streak has solidified many people's opinions that the Atlanta Braves have hit "rock bottom." The Braves were tied with the New York Mets for the final Wild Card Spot in the Playoffs. But after the Mets' win against the Colorado Rockies, the Braves now "sit in fourth place in Wild Card standing" putting them "out of playoff position" for the first time since 2017.

According to Athlon Sports , Snitker has faced criticism this season for his "laid back approach" and tendency to "stay quiet even when all has gone wrong." During the game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Snitker remained silent when rookie reliever Grant Holmes was "victimized by an outrageous call in the eighth inning." Umpire Larry Vanover let Nolan Arenado walk on a pitch from Holmes that was very clearly in the upper portion of the strike zone.

Before the Brewers game, Snitker was one of only six MLB managers who hadn't been ejected from a game in 2024. This isn't out of character for the Braves Manager, who has only been ejected five times in the past five seasons. The Braves have had some pretty terrible calls this season that contributed to their poor performance and losing streak. Most notably, MLB fans were sent into an uproar when Max Frieds threw a pitch right into the middle of a strike zone during the Braves vs. Phillies game, but the umpire inexplicably called it a ball. Had the strike been called, Phillies' Nick Castellanos would have been sent to the bench and the inning would have been secured for the Braves. Because of the Umpire's missed call, the Phillies were given a 3-2 lead.

Athlon Sports explains that "the manager getting behind the team and pleading their case, even if it leads to an ejection" might be exactly what an underperforming team needs. Seeing their manager stand up for them might "light a fire" under the Braves and "help them find their form from a year ago."

Snitker's ejection during the Brewers game certainly got the Braves fired up. After Stoler (unfairly) struck out, Austin Riley " launched a baseball 428 feet for a two-run go ahead homer." This put the Braves on top at the bottom of the fifth inning, with a score of 4-3. Snitker's ejection led to the Braves' first homer since the third inning of Saturday's game!

Baseball fans agree that Snitker standing up for his team is a sign that things are starting to turn around for the Braves. They have taken to social media to express their excitement.
