Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum shared a cryptic post on his Instagram Story following Team USA's gold medal triumph at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The 26-year-old appeared to indirectly address his lack of playing time throughout the tournament by reposting a screenshot of a post by rapper Vince Staples on X, formerly Twitter.

"WE WILL AVENGE JAYSON TATUM.," Staples said on Sunday .

Tatum was benched in two of Team USA's six games at the 2024 Paris Olympics; during the first game of the group stage and the semifinals, both coincidentally against Serbia.

The five-time NBA All-Star played 11 minutes in their 98-87 gold medal game win over France on Saturday, scoring two points on 1-of-3 shooting, with three rebounds and one steal.

Prior to the gold medal game, Team USA head coach Steve Kerr attributed Tatum's lack of minutes as a "math problem," explaining that other lineups simply worked better without detracting from the former Duke Blue Devil's talent.

“It’s not about anything Jayson is doing or not doing. It’s just about combinations and the way that group has played together, the way Kevin has filled in since he came back from his injury. It’s just a math problem more than anything,” the Warriors mentor said.

On the other hand, Tatum's mother, Brandy Cole, expressed her dismay about the 6-foot-8 forward's benching in the semifinals against Serbia.

ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale posted on X during the game, wondering whether Tatum’s lack of action was due to an injury, to which Cole provided a stark answer .

“No [he‘s] not. But if you find out what’s going on please let me know – unacceptable and makes NO SENSE.."

Tatum's second Olympic gold medal adds to an already spectacular year, which saw him make the All-Star team for the fifth consecutive year, earn All-NBA First Team honors for the third straight year, and win his first NBA championship with the Celtics.
