Team USA captured the gold medal in men’s basketball at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris after sending a star-studded lineup to the international competition.

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton was part of the 12-man roster that traveled to France. He appeared in only three of the six games they played in the tournament, even going scoreless in one of them.

Speculation about the 24-year-old’s limited action suggested it was due to reliance on veteran players and an abundance of talent. However, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Haliburton was hobbled by a minor leg injury.

The exact nature of the leg injury remains unspecified, but it did require an MRI, which likely produced negative results, considering the lack of updates and Haliburton’s ability to move pain-free on the bench during the course of the Summer Ganes.

During his breakout 2023-24 campaign, where he was named the league's newest superstar, Haliburton dealt with a number of injuries , including a left hamstring injury, left leg soreness, a right ankle sprain, a sacral contusion, and lower back spasms.

Tyrese Haliburton Pokes Fun On Limited Minutes For Team USA

Haliburton was able to joke at his own expense after Team USA defeated hosts France in the gold medal game, 98-87, at the Accor Arena in Paris last Saturday.

The two-time NBA All-Star posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) about being able to get a gold medal despite his limited on-court action.

The 2023-24 All-NBA Third Team member played only during the last two games of the group stage against South Sudan and Puerto Rico, and the quarterfinal versus Brazil. He missed the first group stage game and the semifinal, both against Serbia, as well as the final against France.

The 6-foot-5 point guard scored a total of eight points in 26 minutes of action throughout the Olympics.
