Dennis Schroder Calls Kevin Durant 'Weak' After Olympics Win Jab

Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schroder had a stark response to Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant after the latter's subtle diss following Team USA's victory in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Schroder had previously commented that European basketball is less about entertainment and places more emphasis on IQ compared to the NBA.

"European basketball is no entertainment. It's straight IQ basketball, straight coaching, and really, really high-IQ guys who know how to play the game," the 30-year-old said after Germany's bronze medal game in the Olympics, which they lost to Serbia.

On the other hand, Team USA won the gold medal game against hosts France, 98-87 last Saturday, August 10. Following the win, Durant seemingly responded to Schroder's statement by posting a photo of the American squad on X (formerly Twitter), with the caption "ENTERTAINMENT & IQ."

Schroder caught wind of Durant's words and shared his thoughts in detail during a lengthy discussion on a Twitch stream.

"They won, and Kevin Durant tweets, 'High IQ and entertainment.' For me, that's just being weak. You're that type of a star, and you have to say something to a person like me who not even meant it to be negative. It was just what I see from both sides, you know what I'm saying? I didn't appreciate it. I don't care, but at the end of the day, that tweet, or whatever he posted, was because of me," the 2023 FIBA World Cup MVP said.

Schroder previously led Germany to win the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in the Philippines, and he was also named to the FIBA Men's Olympics All-Star Five in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"I don't care, but at the end of the day, that tweet, or whatever he posted, was because of me. For me, it was never no negative stuff. I respect all of those guys, all GOATs, but to say that tells me how weak he is as a person," Schroder added about Durant.
