STALLINGS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Another roundabout is coming to a Union County intersection.

Stallings is the latest community to get the traffic redesign, this time following a closure beginning Monday to the intersection of Lawyers Road and Emerald Lake Drive/Hawthorne Drive. The project comes via a $1 million contract the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded to Charlotte contractor Blythe Development Company.

The enhancements are at the main entrance to Emerald Lake Golf Club. Crews are expecting the project to take up to seven weeks.

A marked detour will take drivers from Lawyers Road West to Stevens Mill Road, Idlewild Road and Mill Grove Road, returning to Lawyers.

Construction is underway at Lawyers Road and Indian Trail-Fairview Road for a roundabout that began construction in April.

Other lane closures required for the project must occur during non-peak travel times in the mornings and afternoons, and outside major holidays.
