    2 pipe bombs safely detonated in Stallion Springs, no current threat to surrounding area: police

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Officers with the Stallion Springs Police Department and the sheriff’s office said they safely detonated two explosive devices and two other suspicious devices near Comanche Point Road Saturday.

    Officials said there is no threat to the area.

    A Stallion Springs resident discovered two suspicious devices in the roadway of Comanche Point Road and Jack’s Springs Road on Saturday around 8:45 a.m., officials said.

    The devices appeared to be burnt but not destroyed, according to police. Officials arrived and determined the devices to be two pipe bombs.

    At the time of the incident, officers contacted the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad and set up a perimeter. The devices were detonated and rendered safe.

    Two other suspicious devices were found near the area and determined to be safe.

    Community members are advised to be aware of suspicious objects and not to approach or touch them but to call 911.
