Crozet Phenom Heading to Olympics
Western Albemarle High School rising senior Thomas Heilman stepped into the spotlight at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis in June, where most of the best swimmers in the world competed for precious few spots on the team for the Olympic Games in Paris in July. In races where a couple hundredths of a second make all the difference and only the top two finishers make the trip, Heilman qualified for the U.S. team in not one but two events.
Madison grad satisfied with Olympic trials swimming performance
Madison High School graduate Anna Keating finished sixth in the finals of the women’s 200 breaststroke race at the recent U.S. Olympic swimming trials. Her time was 2:29.54. “I was happy with my sixth-place finish in the finals,” Keating said. “That was my main goal to be in the final with three of my other [University of Virginia] teammates. My time wasn’t a PR. But I wasn’t bothered by that because I was able to place well.”
