Peoria Fire Department has historic number of female firefighters on staff
PEORIA (25News Now) - In a profession dominated by men, the Peoria Fire Department is evening the playing field with the most females employed in department history. In the last six years, the city’s department hired five females, according to Division Chief of Operations Lore Baxter. Before that, it had been nearly 20 years since a new woman geared up, changing the station culture from firemen to firefighters.
