The Little League Senior Softball World Series started on Monday in Roxana, Delaware. The Illinois squad took their first step to defending their championship from last year with a 10-1 win over the West squad from Hawaii. Illinois blasted four home runs in the game, two by Aspen Kitwoski from Springfield. Standout pitcher and 2-time first team all-stater Mia Volpert, also from Springfield, launched a home run and was perfect in the pitching circle in her four innings of work, striking out five batters.
