AH middle schoolers shine at state competition

Two Abington Heights seventh grade students traveled to State College on May 14 to present Shark Tank-style to a panel of judges at Penn State’s Happy Valley LaunchBox.

The event was hosted by Dream-Learn-Pitch, a program administered through nonprofit Brighter Financial Futures.

Hayden Manning and Grace Wagner submitted their pitch for an eco-friendly cosmetic line and were one of only 10 middle school teams in Pennsylvania selected to compete.

Hayden and Grace received the Visionary Vanguard Award, coming in third place out of 10 teams across Pennsylvania.

They presented in front of a crowd of about 60 adults and other middle schoolers. The competition was stiff and the judges were not “going easy” on these young entrepreneurs. The girls handled themselves with poise and represented Abington Heights well.
