Penn State police are investigating a reported burglary and sexual assault at a University Park residence hall.

A student "reported an unknown perpetrator entered their residence hall room uninvited and assaulted them," between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday in the East Halls housing complex , according to a Timely Warning issued by Penn State University Police.

Colleges and universities are required to issue Timely Warnings by the Clery Act when certain crimes, including sex offenses, are reported on campus.

The identity of the alleged assailant is unknown and no description was provided in the warning.

It is the second Timely Warning issued at University Park this month. A student reported on July 8 being sexually assaulted by a known person in a residence on the southern portion of campus. That case is still open, according to a crime log entry.
