WINGATE, Pa (WTAJ) — Last fall Bald Eagle’s 12 wins were the most in the Jesse Nagle era. The team thrived behind quarterback Carson Nagle, who was one of the top passers in the state last year.

“He’s definitely the most dynamic and best overall quarterback we’ve ever had,” Jesse Nagle said.

At 5’11”, Carson Nagle is a little undersized, however, he terrorized opposing defenses by chucking the ball all over the gridiron for 3,569 yards and 38 touchdowns.

“He does a lot of things that are nontraditional. He throws the ball at different arm slots. You know, he’s on the movie, throws very well,” Jesse Nagle said. “So, I think that he can sit back and throw the ball, make all the throws, but he can also move around and make all the turns as well.”

Nagle completed 71% of his passes leading an offense that scored more than 37 points per game, but his legs complete the package. He rushed for a pair of touchdowns last year and he feels his mobility to extend plays is flying under the radar.

“I have sneaky feet,” Carson Nagle said. “I think that obviously, I’d like to stay in the pocket, but if the play breaks down and there’s a lot of times that I’m scrambling around and find guys wide open deep, that was a lot of my yards last year, a lot of my touchdowns.”

Despite having a three-year starter at quarterback returning, the Eagles offense will look vastly different from last season with their top three receivers graduating. Nagle will now be tasked with breaking in a young group and stepping up as a leader.

“I’ve started in this offense for four years, so I think I know every single play without even looking at a wristband. I mean, so these receivers, they just ask me questions and like that’s going to help me,” Carson added. “We’re going to have 75 different plays that we can choose from so that I’ll know every single one of them. So, if they ever have a question or anything like that, I’m obviously here for them.”

The Eagles made it to the PIAA quarterfinals before falling to powerhouse Southern Columbia. This year the Eagles will look to ride Nagle’s arm and leadership to another deep postseason run.
