    State College police, ASERT to hold training for those with autism

    STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — The State College Police Department has partnered with ASERT Collaborative to provide a free training.

    On Monday, Aug. 26, the department will help train individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or IDD to learn how to interact with police officers safely.

    Residents could be owed money over fake State College parking ‘tickets’ after lawsuit

    The event will include a brief PowerPoint Presentation explaining the law, what is a police officer, the do’s and don’ts for safety in interacting with police and what language a police officer may use during an interaction.

    Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and will receive an exclusive button for the event.

    The event will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the State College Borough Building at 243 South Allen Street in the second-floor all-purpose room.
