Penn State will host its final major recruiting event of the summer this upcoming weekend before switching its focus to preseason camp. Currently, the Class of 2025 sits at 22 commitments, with wide receiver and defensive line being the two primary positions of need.

As previously reported, the Nittany Lions hope to make progress at receiver this weekend when they host South Florida native Koby Howard and current USC commit Romero Ison . As of now, it’s unclear if any 2025 defensive linemen plan to attend, but it is becoming more clear that the Lions sit in a strong position currently with one of its top remaining targets in Maryland native Yvan Kemajou . Because of that, I’m logging a pick for Penn State to eventually land the Paint Branch prospect.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, Kemajou took six official visits earlier this year, beginning with Northwestern in mid-May. He then checked out Penn State (May 31 to June 2), followed by Rutgers, Duke, Indiana and Virginia Tech.

A three-star prospect, Kemajou did admit back in May that he’ll potentially wait until his senior season to announce. His current timeline remains unclear, but either way, our sources have indicated that the Lions are currently the team to beat heading into preseason practice.

“The big takeaway was that Penn State is gonna be a competitive environment. They say it’s the most competitive environment in college football,” Kemajou said following his official visit. “They said you’re gonna have to work for everything football-wise. You have to earn everything you get. They said you’re gonna have to work hard when you get here because they have a lot of dogs there and they need to see which one is the biggest.”

Kemajou grew up playing basketball primarily but switched to football in 2022. Athletically, he tested strong at the Baltimore Under Armour Camp and still has plenty of room for growth from a technique perspective. That’s what excited defensive line coach Deion Barnes the most.

An honor roll student, Kemajou has also made it clear that academics will have a big impact on his decision. However, he also stressed that a strong football program will be important. That combination sets up well for the Nittany Lions.

“It’s like a 50-50 thing for me,” Kemajou said when asked how academics will factor into his decision. “While I do really care about education, football is also very important. I don’t want to go to a program that’s always losing. I find myself to be a very competitive person.”
