Alexander County Deputies Charge Boomer Man
A registered sex-offender from Wilkes County was apprehended in Alexander County on Wednesday. Michael Anthony Greene age 58 of Boomer, was taken into custody by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and served a warrant for failure to inform law enforcement of an address change. He was convicted in 2019 of indecent liberties with a minor. Greene was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center overnight. He has since been transferred to the custody of the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.

Despite already accumulating nearly $1.8 million toward streetscape improvements in downtown Mount Airy, city officials are eyeing up to $850,000 more for the project. Sale of Park & Ride lot may free county from PART
County officials may be cautiously optimistic about the prospect of a final exit from the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) following the sale of one of the park and ride lots.
