Child abuse charges filed against East Bend man
An East Bend man has been charged following an investigation into reported sexual offenses with a child. The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the alleged offenses on Thursday, June 18. An investigation was conducted into the matter and evidence was obtained supporting the report, according to the Sheriff's Office. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for Hurley “Duane” Clonch, age 54, for five counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child. Clonch was arrested on July 12 and is being held at the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond. His next scheduled court appearance is July 31.
Fries man charged with manslaughter in fatal Wytheville wreck
Accused of causing a fatal multi-vehicle crash last December in Wytheville, a Fries man was indicted Monday on an involuntary manslaughter charge. Gary Allen Vaughan, 63, was arrested Wednesday on the felony charge that carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison. The indictment was sealed until after his arrest.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Police arrested a Virginia woman in Myrtle Beach after she allegedly drove a car onto the beach on Tuesday. Lauren Hodge, 34, of Galax, Va., is charged with ordinance/vehicle prohibited to drive on beach/public marsh, first-offense driving without a license and reckless driving, records show.

ResoGat is a group of musicians who assemble once a year to share their music and their love of resophonic guitars. The gathering occurs the Wednesday after the Fourth of July, and concludes the following Saturday. An 11-member committee selects a player to honor annually during their gathering. Big T and Pammy Lassiter serve as part of that decision-making group.
