G's Cheesesteaks is set for its soft opening today at 6 Avenue B on the NW corner at Houston. (First mentioned here.) The storefront (and upstairs floors) have undergone extensive renovations recently. This is the first retail tenant in 15 years in the long-empty building that the new landlords call The B.

Police: Elizabeth woman arrested in Guttenberg for kicking police officer
An Elizabeth woman was arrested in Guttenberg for kicking a police officer after authorities responded to a call of her being an unwanted guest in a home. On Sunday, July 14th, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 68th Street and Madison Street on a report of an unwanted party in a residence, the department wrote in their police blotter.

ALBANY, N.Y. - Legislation that targets lithium-ion batteries and aims to keep New Yorkers safe both on and off the road is now on the books. The package of laws signed by Gov. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – New York State Police has received multiple reports of smishing text scams. NYSP warns those in the community that E-ZPass and Tolls by Mail will never send anyone an email or text requesting sensitive, personal information such as social security, credit card number, usernames or passwords.

“Pipe Dream,” a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical which had a brief run back in the day, overshadowed by “Oklahoma,” “Carousel,” “The King and I,” and “South Pacific,” gets a rare revival at Berkshire Theatre Group, July 26 to Aug. 31. When “Pipe Dream” opened, it was given an original cast recording, but the musical, based on John Steinbeck’s “Cannery Row” and “Sweet Thursday,” was forgotten, until the New York City Center Encores series revived and recorded the musical with Leslie Uggams.
