Cattaraugus County Crash Kills One, Injures Two
One person is dead, while two others are in stable condition following a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Cattaraugus County. State Police in Olean responded to the intersection of Route 417 and Fischer Lane in the Town of Portville shortly after 4:00 PM and determined that a vehicle traveling east on Route 417 struck a northbound vehicle entering that roadway from Fischer Lane. Troopers say 65-year-old Clemendina Gaylor of Portville, the driver of the vehicle on Route 417, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the vehicle on Fischer Lane were transported to Olean General Hospital.
Two Charged After Children Found Living in Deplorable Conditions
A well-being check of two children at an apartment on Jamestown's west side Sunday evening resulted in two arrests. Jamestown Police were called to the scene at about 9:30 PM and located 22-year-old Abigail Thompson inside the residence. Thompson, who had an order of protection to stay away from the residence of three victims who were present, was taken into custody without incident. Officers noted that the apartment was in deplorable condition and unsuitable for children to live there. 24-year-old Austin Wynn was also arrested because he allegedly knew about the condition of the apartment and allowed children to live there. Both suspects were charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, plus a quality of life City Code violation due to the amount of human and animal feces inside the apartment, which contributed to extremely unsanitary conditions for surrounding apartments. Thompson was also charged with three counts of 2nd-degree criminal contempt. Both were held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

Two city residents arrested during domestic incident as children are found living in unsanitary conditions... Two people from Jamestown have been arrested after two children were found living in deplorable conditions inside an apartment on the city's westside. Jamestown police say officers were called to the location about 9:30 p.m. last Saturday... and, on arrival... found 22 year-old Abigail Thompson inside, though there were orders of protection for her to stay away from the two children... and, one adult. Thompson was taken into custody without incident on three counts of second-degree criminal contempt... and, two of endangering the welfare of a child. Police say they found human and animal feces through-out the apartment... and, also arrested 24 year-old Austin Wynn... who lived with the children. Wynn is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Both Thompson and Wynn were additionally charged with "Quality of Life city code violations because of the deplorable conditions. They were jailed pending arraignment.

Stockton man killed in car-motorcycle crash near Erie, Pa.... A crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle on Interstate 90 in Erie County, Pennsylvania last Friday resulted in the death of a Chautauqua County resident. Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook confirms that the victim was identified as 57-year-old James Erickson of Stockton. Cook says Erickson was westbound on I-90 when he went across the median and got struck by an eastbound vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.

Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announced that Richard O. Mclarney, 37, of Salamanca, was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.

Domestic Dispute Involving Crowbar Leads to Arrest in Lakewood
(WNY News Now) – Lakewood – On July 26, 2024, at 6:39 PM, the Town of Ellicott police responded to a domestic dispute in Lakewood, resulting in the arrest of 42-year-old Joseph A. Krall. Authorities charged Krall with harassment in the second degree and menacing in the second degree.
