Upstate NY insurance company in trouble, tells customers to find a new carrier
An Upstate New York-based insurance company appears to be going out of business as it urges customers to find a new carrier. “We regret to inform our agents and policyholders that our financial position has continued to deteriorate,” Adirondack Insurance Exchange said on its website. “We urge all current customers to begin working with their independent agent to secure new coverage with a rated carrier, immediately.”
Four Ellicottville Central Students Awarded
Brooke Butler and Keelin Finn received the Kristen Hintz Memorial Scholarship for $1,500 each. This scholarship, which came under the Foundation’s management in 2017, is named in memory of Kristen Nicole Hintz, who was a senior at Ellicottville Central School and at the top of her class when a tragic auto accident cut her life short in 2000. A leader in her class, she was a multi-sport athlete who always gave her best and persevered through difficult situations. Students applying for this scholarship must include an essay that describes and explains what characteristics and qualities he/she possesses that makes him/her deserving of this scholarship, including information that reflects how they demonstrate kindness and perseverance, qualities for which Kristen was known. Butler will study mathematics at Clarkson University. Finn will study biology at Gannon University.

RUSSELL, Pa. – On Monday July 22, 2024, Jim Vecellio hit a Hole-In-One on #17 at Cable Hollow Golf Club. He hit the ace from the Gold Tees with a 7 Iron from 126 yards. Bill Turner, Mony Culbertson, and Lincoln Sokolski witnessed the shot.

Salamanca Woman Charged Following Altercation with Lifeguard. (WNY News Now) – Cold Spring – Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb reported a harassment incident occurring on July 4, 2024, at the High Banks Campground pool in Cold Spring, NY. At approximately 6:10 AM, authorities responded to a physical altercation between Shanelle Mohawk, 37, of Salamanca, NY, and a lifeguard at the campground.
Felony Warrant Arrest in Springville: Salamanca Man in Custody
(WNY News Now) – Springville, NY – On July 28, 2024, at approximately 12:00 PM, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office executed a felony bench warrant arrest at 21 S. Cascade Dr., Springville. Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announced that Richard O. Mclarney, 37, of Salamanca, was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.
