Authorities identify driver killed in Route 3 truck crash and explosion in Clifton
Passaic County prosecutors identified the driver who was killed in Monday’s truck fire and explosion on Route 3 in Clifton. Authorities say Luis Santiago, a 55-year-old male from Linden, was killed in the crash. They say the commercial truck traveling on Route 3 East clipped a NJ Transit bus before crashing into a barrier causing the vehicle to catch fire.

Additionally, the Court imposed a sentence of one and one third (1 and 1/3) to four (4) years in prison on the Tampering with Physical Evidence charge and ordered that sentence to run consecutive to the sentence imposed on the Murder charge, thus constituting the maximum sentence permitted by law.

Brooklyn man arrested on weapons charge
Nassau County Police arrested a Brooklyn man for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm during a traffic stop on Friday, July 19, at 9:11 pm in Woodbury. According to detectives, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) Officers while on routine patrol observed a gray 2011 Mercedes-Benz traveling northbound on Woodbury Road at a high rate of speed. Police say that a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun and a switchblade knife was recovered from inside the vehicle during the traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle, Emmanuel E. Pressley, 20, arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and multiple VTL violations.

Officers responded to the area, contacted the involved party and advised him of the dangers of shooting a crossbow in that area. The male understood the concerns raised and left the scene voluntarily.
