    Sheriff’s office: Carjacker hits, kills Silver Spring woman with her own car in Sterling

    STERLING, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A woman died Sunday after a carjacker hit her with her own car, sheriff’s deputies said.

    Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to the 21000 block of Towncenter Plaza around 11:40 a.m. for a reported carjacking.

    LCSO said that the suspect hit the victim, 54-year-old Melody Waldecker of Silver Spring, Md., with her car as the suspect escaped.

    Waldecker died at the scene.

    Police arrest suspect in connection to fatal Dumfies hit-and-run

    In a news release Sunday evening, LCSO said that the suspect was in custody. Deputies still were investigating, and charges still were pending.
