STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) — Wheeling isn’t the only city on the Ohio River getting the pyrotechnics ready tonight.

Steubenville will feature its yearly red, white and blue entertainment, with the Tri-State Community Band and Ron Retzer Trio taking the Fort Steuben amphitheater stage.

The city has planned its Independence Day celebration for more than half a century, so the threat of rain isn’t stopping the holiday plans.

Tents and covers were set up this afternoon to keep the music going even in a downpour.

“It does take a little bit of coordination. So when you think about changing the date, canceling it because of weather, that’s a really big process to try to get all of these bands, performers and food vendors to follow suit. So we’re going to go with it whether rain or shine.”

    Mayor Jerry Barilla, Steubenville

The stage will be set for the music at 6:30, with fireworks to follow after.

The concert will also feature the return of the US Kids band for the first time in years.
