STEVENSVILLE — Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat announced the grand opening of their brand new splash pad, designed exclusively for dogs, at their Kent Island location. After 18 months of planning and construction, the eagerly anticipated water park is now ready to welcome dogs for a splashing good time.

All features are constructed with stainless steel and powder-coated for durability. The installation includes six functioning water features, complemented by vertical and arching deck sprays, all programmable for various sequences. It also offers puddle play with a few inches of water towards the middle, ensuring fun and safety for all dogs. The water is cycled through a UV water purification system, with daily testing performed to maintain optimal hygiene standards. Regarding capacity, Dogwood Acres maintains a safe staff-to-dog ratio, similar to their other yard, approximately 15 dogs to ensure safety and enjoyment for all.

To celebrate their newest facility addition, Dogwood Acres hosted a Water Park Grand Opening Party on Saturday, May 11. Pet parents and their dogs joined in the festivities, enjoying a fun-filled afternoon of socializing, family-friendly activities, and water play.

“We are thrilled to offer a unique and custom water park for our guests. While many dogs enjoy playing in the water, this takes it to a whole new level, it is irresistibly fun for all. It is the best day ever, every day!” said. Emily Beall, pet care manager at Dogwood Acres Kent Island.

The water park is now available for all dogs staying at Dogwood Acres, with an upgrade to Playtime. In addition, the Water Park can be rented for private events, offering a pet-friendly venue for celebrations. Whether it’s a pet lover’s birthday, a breed-specific group meetup, or a pet’s birthday party, the Water Park is an ideal spot to continue the paw-ty waves.

Dogwood Acres Pet Retreat remains committed to providing exceptional care and fun-filled experiences for pets.

Dogwood Acres began out of a desire by owners, Kurt and Audrey Reichardt, to find a quality pet retreat for their beloved black Lab, Casey. As young, accomplished professionals, they had the opportunity to travel extensively but hated leaving Casey somewhere they would not stay themselves. They wanted a place where Casey could get lots of outdoor exercise and tons of personal attention in a clean and comfortable setting.

Recognizing that their expectations for a pet care facility were high, but assuming there must be others that share the same desires for their pets, Kurt and Audrey began developing Dogwood Acres in Davidsonville, and welcomed their first guests on Sept. 9, 1997.

The business has grown over the years, but the vision was clear and still remains. Kurt and Audrey wanted to create a fun and safe environment where pets love to come and play and pet owners feel confident in the superior care that their dogs and cats are enjoying.
